Listen: Passion Pit Cover Smashing Pumpkins “Tonight Tonight”
Alex Moore :: Thursday, June 24th, 2010 10:00 am
This summer’s most palatable music advertising campaign continues from Levi’s Pioneer Sessions with Passion Pit covering Smashing Pumpkins.
Levi’s presents an impressive lineup for the series, with Passion pit joinig Nas, Dirty Projectors, the Shins and others. Mercifully, Passion Pit eschew the late-period, skirt wearing, gigantic band Pumpkins, dialing the clock back to Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness for “Tonight Tonight”

Passion Pit: Live in Oregon
Colm McAuliffe :: Monday, April 12th, 2010 9:30 am
Close your eyes at a Passion Pit performance and one imagines the sleek hi-NRG sounds emitting from the stage to belong to some ultra-camp, 80s revue retro-experience. But the fact that the cascading keyboards, helium vocals (reminiscent of this) and rousing, soaring choruses come from five scruffy, bearded, plaid-shirted Bostonians is a curious visual dichotomy which did not seem to matter to the insatiable audience, evidence of the band’s sudden rise on the coat-tails of MGMT. The Moon and Antarctica Vinyl Re-release
Amy Laviero :: Friday, March 19th, 2010 1:30 pm
Record Store Day announced a re-release of Modest Mouse’s The Moon and Antarctica, which will be available on April 17th along with countless other noteworthy pressings. To celebrate the album’s 10th anniversary, the band opted to remaster its tracks and re-release it on vinyl with the original track-listing.
Other Record Store Day releases include vinyl pressings from Deerhoof, Neko Case, Sonic Youth, Ted Leo & the Pharmacists, Passion Pit, Tom Waits, and Sea Wolf. There will also be new music from Holy Steady, Deftones, and Gogol Bordello, to name a few. I am particularly excited to hear Bon Iver and Peter Gabriel cover each other.
You can check out a full list of releases, re-releases, and Record Store Day limited editions, at the event’s official website.

Passion Pit Reissue Manners, Announce More Tour Dates
Amy Laviero :: Wednesday, March 17th, 2010 1:50 pm
On April 13th, Passion Pit will reissue their debut album, Manners. The reissue will feature three bonus tracks including new versions of “Sleepyhead” and “Moth’s Wings,” as well as the band’s unlikely cover of the Cranberries’ song “Dreams,” which they have been playing live. The new Manners will also feature new cover art, which I’m hoping is a better reflection of the album’s vibe.

Bear Hands US Tour Dates & “What A Drag” Release Date
Nick Nicoludis :: Thursday, February 11th, 2010 3:20 pm
Bear Hands is a group that fits into no musical mold. They blend electronic keyboard melodies, stomping jungle beats that are virtually impossible not to at least awkwardly sway to, echoed out guitars, and semi falsetto vocals provided by the lead singer/song writer/guitarist Dylan Rau. I think it is important to note, for the purpose of giving credentials to their musical prowess, Dylan Rau and guitarist Ted Feldman both graduated from Wesleyan college; a school that produced acts like MGMT and Francis and the the Lights. They don’t seem to care much for what is going on musically around them. All the new memes and genres have no sway in their style or sound. Cantora Records is poised to drop the new single “What A Drag” on Feburary 16th. MORE »

Run Toto Run do Passion Pit
Amy Laviero :: Wednesday, January 13th, 2010 5:08 pm
While scouring the internet for new music, I came across this cover of Passion Pit’s “Sleepyhead,” by Run Toto Run and thought I would share because hey, who doesn’t love a good cover song? Hailing from the UK, the band has only been around about a year, although their cover and single, “Catch My Breath,” have enjoyed some recent satellite radio air play and online buzz generated by the blogging community. More Chances to See Passion Pit Play Announced
Brenna Ehrlich :: Tuesday, November 10th, 2009 12:50 pm
Passion Pit has been one busy band as of late-what with being nominated for an MTV VMA (for “The Reeling”) and garnering yet another nomination for a 2009 mtvU Woodie Award (the cleverly titled “Breaking Woodie”). Although a bunch of their shows are already sold-out, there’s plenty of chances to see Pit play, no matter where you reside. Check out tour dates and the video for the impossibly catchy “The Reeling” after the jump. It’ll probably be stuck in your head until these dudes make it to your town.
