While the suspect behind the failed car-bomb in Times Square is still on the lamb, speculation for a motive is running rampant. One possible motive, according to the NYPD, might be the recent episode of South Park in which the prophet Mohammad is depicted as being inside a bear outfit. The SUV bomb reportedly was parked near the Manhattan headquarters of Viacom, which is the parent company of Comedy Central. Representative Peter King of Long Island had this to say to CNN:
“You have the whole issue with ‘South Park,’ which Islamic terrorists were threatening to have retribution for,” though he reiterated that the theory was “one possibility out of a hundred.”
Perhaps now that the NYPD have released the video of a suspect behind the plot, we might get some answers. Take a look at the surveillance video after the jump.
