El Guincho Streaming New EP, Announces Short US Tour

Travis Walter Donovan :: Tuesday, June 8th, 2010 7:30 pm

El Guincho, the recording project of Pablo Díaz-Reixa, is set to release his next album on July 13th with Young Turks, preceded by a short US tour. Piratas de Sudamérica, El Guincho’s first release since 2008’s Alegranza!, is the debut in a series of five limited edition EPs that find the Spanish musician giving his own personal spin on old South American classics.

The EP features collaborations with Julieta Venegas and Adrián de Alfonso, and more international partnerships are planned for the subsequent releases, the second of which will be released in the fall. Twisting and rearranging traditional and popular numbers from the region, El Guincho’s Piratas de Sudamérica sounds like what Panda Bear might produce if he started singing in Spanish and spending all of his time on Brazilian beaches.

Listen to the Piratas de Sudamérica streaming here, and buy the 12″ vinyl on July 13th.
