Judd Apatow, director/producer of Knocked Up and Superbad, has just confirmed that he is developing a new Pee-Wee Herman film project, with a screenplay written by creator Paul Reubens and Semi-Pro screenwriter Paul Rust. Apatow, who signed onto the project after seeing Reubens perform as Pee-Wee in a one-man show last winter, told Daily Variety, “Let’s face it - the world needs more Pee-Wee Herman. It’s so great to watch him return with such relevance.” MORE »

Jason Segel: Muppets Canon Gets an Update
Amelia Kreminski :: Thursday, June 10th, 2010 6:00 pm
Since 1979, The Muppets have been gracing the silver screen with their fuzzy, strangely colored faces and open-mouthed grins. Come Christmas Day 2011, Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller (veterans of many Judd Apatow productions) will unveil the latest Muppet creation, a feature-length film brazenly entitled The Greatest Muppet Movie of All Time!!!. You may ask, Why another Muppet movie? Haven’t there been, like, nine or something already? The answer is yes. But this one, besides obviously being cool enough to warrant not one, but three exclamation points in the title, has some new tricks up its sleeve. MORE »

Sex and The City 2 Loses the Good Vibrations
Shannon Hassett :: Tuesday, June 1st, 2010 3:45 pm
Well Carrie, it’s not easy being Queen Bradshaw. There’s the series to live up to — remember, those six seasons full of witty dialogue, beautifully centered around our beloved Manhattan and chock full of Smith Jared- yeah, those. And then there was the first movie, which, while possessing more than its share of faults, at least put the necessary Mr. Big wedding to bed for good. (Spoiler Alert) MORE »

Trailer: “Machete” Brings the Camp and the D-List
Danielle Johnsen :: Wednesday, May 5th, 2010 2:13 pm
When it was announced that Robert Rodriquez was going to turn his faux trailer “Machete” for “Grindhouse” into a full length flick, I nearly lost my mind. If there is something Rodriquez excels at its his commitment to bringing back the tacky and graphic B-films of the 1970′s, filled to the high heavens with D-List stars. And since I have a soft spot in my heart for craptacular films heavy on the action and a virtual whose-who of nobodies, I was incredibly pleased with the cheesy gruesomeness delivered with the “illegal” Red Band trailer Rodriquez and Danny Trejo, Machete himself, released today to celebrate Cinco De Mayo. N.W.A. Biopic In The Works
Nick Nicoludis :: Tuesday, May 4th, 2010 4:15 pm
It looks like the N.W.A biopic project, which has been circling around the Internet since last March is finally materializing. Yesterday it was reported that the film, being produced by Ice Cube and Eazy-E’s widow Tomika Woods for New Line, got the green light to go into production. No one knows when it will come out or who will act in it, but for some reason everyone is shitting themselves about the fact that Andrea Berloff-gasp, a white lady!-is writing the flick (don’t forget she wrote Oliver Stone’s World Trade Center). Could this be the beginning of the rapper biopic trend started by the Biggie movie, Notorious? MORE »

How Machete Will Save Lindsay Lohan
Shannon Hassett :: Tuesday, April 27th, 2010 11:00 am
Here is the IMDB plot description for The Other Side: “Follows an over-achieving science scholar as she solves a bizarre mystery involving the wacky eccentric residents of a remote island where she ultimately discovers unforeseen personal ties to its history.” So that science scholar better be a super hottie to make up ground the film will lose for not being Indiana Jones. Which is why Lindsay Lohan was fired yesterday. MORE »

Black is Back in 3D
Shannon Hassett :: Thursday, April 22nd, 2010 11:40 am
Spiderman 4 is out, Men In Black 3 is in. In 3D. While there is still no word of a script, Sony was quick to jump on the one billion dollar grossing series after the fourth installment of Spidey took a nosedive. My prediction: Will Smith will actually end up being the ultimate alien — in the form of L. Ron Hubbard — ushering in a new era of conversion technique for the celebreligion. Tommy Lee Jones is a badass, but Sony would have been better off rereleasing Independence Day as their foray into the 3D market. Look for the flick summer of 2011.

The Latest in Animal Fusion Movies
Nick Nicoludis :: Thursday, April 8th, 2010 3:40 pm
The Syfy Channel has corned the market when it comes to terribly low budget horror movies. They’ve come out with unforgettable flicks about giant crocodiles and giant bugs that attack unsuspecting campers. But recently Syfy has even outdone itself and suck to arguably a new low. Famed b-movie producer Roger Corman put out two TV movies last month that shocked the viewing public and created a new genre of Syfy Channel film: Deadly animal fusion flicks. MORE »

Upcoming Freakonomics Documentary Looks Amazing
Amy Rose Spiegel :: Wednesday, April 7th, 2010 1:55 pm
When reviewing the best documentaries of the past few years, a few movies immediately spring to my mind. The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters is an easy favorite, along with Jesus Camp and Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room. If you want, we can talk a little about Super Size Me and Why We Fight, as well. Well, the filmmakers responsible for all of those incredible, accomplished documentaries have collaborated on a project. Wait, this gets even better - they’re created the film adaptation of Freakonomics! I’m practically apoplectic with pure excitement. MORE »

Hollywood, Are You Trying to Kill Goldie Hawn?
Danielle Johnsen :: Wednesday, March 31st, 2010 1:18 pm
Seriously, Hollywood why are you trying to remake all of Goldie Hawn’s classic movies? Last week, it was announced that J.Lo will stink up star in an updated version of the 1980′s classic Overboard. And now it seems that wasn’t enough, as today it was announced that NewLine/Warner Bros. are set to remake of Private Benjamin, with Anna Faris to star. Yes, the assault on my lovely childhood continues, but at least this time the casting is perfect. While normally I would threaten an all out attack on Hollywood for the audacity to even attempt to remake such a classic, my love of all things Faris is calming my anger and peaking my interest in a remake.
