Roger Ebert Sallies Forth
Amy Rose Spiegel :: Wednesday, February 17th, 2010 4:00 pm
When Roger Ebert lost most of his mandible in 2006, rendering him speechless, he took to the Internet in order to continue what he does so well (some, including myself, would say he’s the best): writing about movies. Only now, he writes about so much more - mortality, memories, and his devoted wife, Chaz are just some of the intimate topics he chooses to discuss with his readers.

Jim Carroll Dead
Stephen Blackwell :: Monday, September 14th, 2009 2:14 pm
Punk, poet, and NYC rock and roller of legend, Jim Carroll, is dead at the age of 60. Carroll was immortalized on film by Leonardo DiCaprio in 1995’s The Basketball Diaries, which detailed Carroll’s descent into drug addiction against the backdrop of the pre-gentrified New York City of the seventies and eighties. Carroll also wrote the rousing “People Who Died,” which became a minor pop hit in the nineties after the film’s success.

Snoop Dogg, Chairman
Stephen Blackwell :: Tuesday, September 8th, 2009 4:02 pm
It’s official: Snoop Dogg has been appointed Creative Chairman of EMI Music’s Priority Records. Sounds like a great idea to me! What’s next? Is Quaker Oats going to appoint Cap N’ Crunch the Chairman of Tastiness?
In the press release, which is a riot by the way, Snoop refers to himself not only as Creative Chairman but also as “Boss Dogg” and “Dogg Father,” a title he has self-referenced approximately one billion times since 1993. (Before that, who knows.) Snoop should be a force in the boardroom. VH1, you’re already planning a reality series around this, right?
