Rivers Cuomo’s Bus Accident, December Tour Cancelled
Elissa Suh :: Monday, December 7th, 2009 1:10 pm
This weekend’s snowfall on the East coast was bad news for Weezer. the band’s tour bus slid on ice, resulting in an accident that injured frontman Rivers Cuomo. Don’t cry yet. He’s injured a few ribs and cancelled the rest of his tour dates for the year, but I’m sure he’ll be back on his fee in no time. Those truly concerned can check out a ridiculously detailed report of the events from Weezer’s website.

Music Now 100% Used to Shill Products and Little Else

Popular music has had quite the downhill journey. I’m not a cartographer, but I think it looks something like this: Powerful emblem of lifestyle and a meaningful indicator of societal bliss or reproach -> A sometimes powerful powerful emblem of lifestyle and a meaningful indicator of societal bliss or reproach, but mostly a unit shifter -> A lifestyle accessory people download and toss away -> Something people listen to before going to a concert -> A video game -> Something you get for free while buying something else.
The way music functions now has perhaps reached its apotheosis with the Raditude snuggie.
“The Weezer Snuggie will be available for $29.99 for purchase online. Fans get a copy of new album Raditude as bonus gift with purchase of Weezer Snuggie.”
So what should you do? Buy an iTunes pass for $19.99 or buy a snuggie for thirty bucks and get the music for free? Is the Weezer album a scam to snuggies? Even if it’s in the name or ironic detachment, do you want to actually own a snuggie?
If you ‘re wondering if they want you to, they want you to.

I miss the good ol’ days when Weezer’s greatness was undeniable. Everyone does. No need to rehash that. I’ll just point you in the direction of where you can stream Raditude, their seventh album-which would be here-if you want to. But, should I listen? No.

Music Video: Weezer “(If You’re Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To”

Check out Weezer’s new video for “(If You’re Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To” after the jump. It’s off Raditude (an album title that still doesn’t sit well with me), which comes out in two weeks. 500 Days of Summer director Marc Webb is responsible for the cutesy aesthetic. My question is, when did Rivers started to look like Rick Moranis circa 1984?
