Ivan Reitman Returns to Direct Ghostbusters 3

Matt Kiebus :: Wednesday, January 13th, 2010 5:15 pm

Now the hype can officially begin to build. Ivan Reitman, the director of the first two Ghostbuster films, is returning to the director’s chair to complete the trifecta. This is the first concrete news confirming the rumors of the return of the Ghostbuster franchise. The world now waits to see if the comedic legends Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Harold Ramis dust off their proton packs. Hopefully they don’t add to the trend of ruining original 80s film classics with half-assed sequels (cough Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull cough). I’m not bitter.

Interview: Harold Ramis

Drew Fortune :: Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009 11:00 am

Yep, that’s Egon. If you don’t know already, Harold Ramis is one of the titans of comedy. He’s the man behind Caddyshack, Ghostbusters, Vacation, and and the list goes on.

D+T contributing writer Drew Fortune was one of the lucky attendees at last week’s 50th Anniversary gala celebration of Second City, the Chicago institution that brought us everyone from Ramis and Bill Murray to Steve Carell and Eugene Levy. He was tenacious enough to badger Ramis into an exclusive interview for D+T.

Follow the jump for Fortune’s reportage from Second City and his interview with Harold Ramis.

There is no Dana, only Zuul: Ghostbusters 3 Spoiler Time

Isaac Lekach :: Friday, December 11th, 2009 1:00 pm

From what we gather the third Ghostbusters movie is definitely happening (if you’ll recall we had Harold Ramis aka Egon Spengler in our comedy issue). The film was written by The Office scribes Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupintsky. And apparently, the original team has signed on. Details beyond that have been scarce. At one point a rumor circulated that Seth Rogen was going to star as a young ghostbuster-maybe he still is, we don’t know. But in an interview with some British guy Sigourney Weaver may have revealed some plot points… Click here to watch it. Now if only we can get someone answers regarding the alleged Arrested Developement movie.

Dan Aykroyd Loses Mind, Bottles Vodka In Skulls

Isaac Lekach :: Wednesday, November 25th, 2009 12:30 pm

The heading might be a bit sensationalized, but we’re here to sell papers folks. Last night I was watching Kevin Pollack’s Talk Show (amazing, by the way). Early on he went on a tangent and hipped the audience to Dan Aykroyd’s line of vodka. Celebrities have made alcoholic beverages before (Francis Ford Coppola, Jerry Garcia, Danny DeVito, etc.) but none have ever decided to bottle them in skulls before. Aykrod’s unconventional choice of vessle has zero to do with taste. He’s become obsessed with Mayans, spirits, the unknown, etc. (The skulls are modeled after the coveted subject of the last Indiana Jones flick). Click here to learn more about his vodka and if you’ve got the patience, watch the video (maybe you’d agree with me on the current whereabouts of Aykroyd’s mind-he’s way into this shit).
