Galactic Funks Up a Full Terminal 5

Galactic, as usual, was on point last night. But it was their guest from the Rebirth Brass Band, Corey Henry, who stole the show.
The funk group from New Orleans played to a packed Terminal 5, the biggest crowd I’ve ever seen them play to outside of a festival. They delivered without harping on the Saints upcoming Super Bowl appearance or the mammoth New Orleans mayoral race today.
It was the addition of Corey Henry that took the already fervent crowd to the next level. The trombone player and current leader of Rebirth Brass Band gave Galactic that front man aspect that is clutch in rounding out their shows. Midway through the show Henry made a one man second line through the audience, getting mobbed for a five minute period and inciting the occasional “Who Dat!?” And as promised, via Throwndown Request Live, the fans got a special performance of “Can’t You Hear Me Knocking” with the help of opening act, Tea Leaf Green. The night was full of energy, my hangover can attest to that, though unspectacular.
If your needing that funk and you missed out, worry not my friend. Due to this weekends snow storm in the Mid-Atlantic, Galactic will be playing a just announced, post Super Bowl show at Brooklyn Bowl.
