White House Apologizes For Premature Firing

Jacky Beda :: Wednesday, July 21st, 2010 6:45 pm

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said Wednesday he has apologized for the pre-mature firing of Shirley Sherrod, and has offered her a new “unique” position. This happens a day after Sherrod was forced to resign for what seemed to have been racist comments at an NAACP banquet in Georgia earlier this year.

Andrew Breitbart, a prominent conservative and active member of the Tea-Party movement, posted a short video on his website of Sherrod at the NAACP banquet explaining an encounter she had with a white farmer 24 years ago. Breitbart edited the clip, making her appear racist out of context. MORE »

Iran Bans The Mullet

Jacky Beda :: Wednesday, July 21st, 2010 1:15 pm

The 1980s have been officially ruled out of style by the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Cultural Ministry.

The ultimate “Im here to party” hairstyle is now illegal, along with other looks that descend from the “west.” The ponytail and the “Jersey Shore” fancifully spiked-and-slathered-in-gel look, has also been ruled immoral by the Iranian government. MORE »

What If the Tea-Party Was Black?

Jacky Beda :: Monday, July 19th, 2010 4:15 pm

The Tea Party movement has prided itself with expressing values of freedom and protesting a government agenda corrupting peoples rights. They have been portrayed by many as a patriotic group standing up for their beliefs and for the unalienable rights given by the constitution.

The Tea Party has been accused of a racist element in their movement lately. The hesitation to repudiate (or “refudiate” as the case may be)  forms of racism in the movement by Tea Party leaders has surmounted a new discussion of the Tea-Party, and the portraying of race in America.

An armed group of angry civilians with militant ideologies, protesting in the streets with violent signs, shouting racist and homophobic slurs would never gain so much popularity if its constituents were “colored folks,” as Tea Party Express leader Mark Williams referred to African Americans in his recent blog post. In fact, they would be designated as terrorists. Any form of a radical black movement would be viewed as detrimental to American society, and branded as terrorist by the CIA and FBI. MORE »

O’Reilly Exposes Palin on O-Factor Over Immigration

Jacky Beda :: Tuesday, July 13th, 2010 3:00 pm

Conservatives are usually great at defending their own. In a recent interview with Sarah Palin on The O’Reilly Factor, O’Reilly threw a couple unexpected jabs at his conservative mate.

Frustration began to emerge when Palin couldn’t respond in a concrete way to a  question on immigration policy. Answers ranged from “Yep,” to “Whatever it takes,” repeated dogged, cushing persistence, followed nonsensically by, “This is a National Security issue.”

Amazingly, O’Reilly retorted, “So now we have 12 million people staring at you and you say to those people, ‘You’re in here illegally.’ Are you going to deport them? What are you gonna do?…we can’t starve them to death.” MORE »

Why Do We Give Lance The Benefit Of The Doubt?

Jacky Beda :: Wednesday, July 7th, 2010 5:00 pm

Lance Armstrong is the quintessential American sports hero. A Texan with perhaps a more compelling story than the “The Miracle on Ice,” Armstrong overcame his fight with cancer to win seven Tour de France titles and is currently cycling his way to an 8th. Handsome, well spoken, and with a last name that signifies greatness, Armstrong was the new white hope for American sports.

Then there is Barry Bonds, an arrogant record breaker with staggering talent and an ego a big as his head, literally. Bonds is the anti-Christ and scapegoat for an entire steroid generation. PED’s (Performance Enhancing Drugs) have been linked to both these athletes for as long as they have been generating excitement in American sports. Although neither has ever actually failed a drug test, both have a pile of evidence surmounted against them. MORE »
