Saturday August 16, 2007First Annual Death + Taxes Scavenger Hunt
This year will mark the first for what is sure to be an annual raucous event: The Death + Taxes Scavenger Hunt. For a small entry fee, teams of 3-5 persons will have the chance to compete in a Brooklyn-based, music-inspired scavenger hunt. There will be an after-party for all participants where scores will be tallied, food and booze will be consumed, and bands will perform. All the festivities are included in registration fee—that means dinner and the show to follow are included. The winners will receive loads of prizes (including free sneakers from Sneaux, gift certificates from local businesses and respect, of course!)
Details of the game:
All entering teams should register at VIP@deathandtaxesmagazine.com before August 15th (enter team name as well as the names of each member).
- Entry fee is $20 per team if you register online, otherwise $25 day of.
- Teams must be greater than three but can not exceed five players – NO EXCEPTIONS
- The Scavenger Hunt will start promptly at 1:00 p.m. at McCarren Park (near the bathrooms on the North side). All teams are required to show up at least ten minutes before start time.
- Each team must bring a digital camera (don’t forget to charge the batteries) and a bag for collecting items.
- The hunt will consist of items to be collected and items to be photographed. Points will be based upon difficulty and/or rarity of item.
- Some items to collect will require small purchases, be it a photo of a team member doing a body shot or finding a Cramps cassette (this is just an example).
- The scavenger hunt will last 4 hours, from 1:00-5:00 p.m.
Details of after-party:
- All teams are required to meet at Union Pool at 5:00 p.m. promptly. Any team that is late will be disqualified.
- Judging will take place from 5:00-7:00 p.m. by a slew of local celebrities and D+T staff members (all forbidden to participate in the scavenger hunt).
- Free food and libations will be given to all participants while the judges are tallying points
- At 7:00 p.m. winners will be announced, prizes given out and bands will start playing
- The show to follow will also be free for participants.
Photos from the event will be featured in the November/December issue of Death + Taxes.
