Don't know if this is real, but why not help a brotha out?!
Last Saturday I went to see A-Trak and Boys Noize in Montreal. I was in town visiting a friend. Sometimes things just work out. Being from Miami, I'm not usually privy to DJs of this caliber. Most nights, DJs fill the clubs in South Beach with house or ...house. Thank god for Montreal. For A-Trak. And for Boys Noize. The Telus Theatre was crowded. If I were to guess, I'd say there were close to eight-hundred people in attendance. My friend and I were a bit shocked to find such an enthusiastic crowd. You'll see from the attached photo of the calender, the locals are treated to shows like this often. Montrealers, at least the ones I was surrounded by, are fanatical. They didn't stop moving the entire time. Of course, both DJs interacted well with the audience (A-Trak more so), riling everyone up throughout their sets. I'd say the only bummer was the small, watered-down servings of alcohol. Maybe Canucks have a lower tolerance. A-Trak doesn't. I saw him drinking vodka from the bottle during Boys Noize's set. Maybe he learned that trick from Kanye when the two toured together. - JL

I recently acquired two amazing reissues thanks to my buddy Koki, who also happens to work for P-Vine, the iconic Japanese record label. Koki was just here with Shugo Tokumaru (another P-Vine artist). Look for the feature on Shugo in Issue 17! Anyway, P-Vine is known for it's amazing reissues and these two are no exception. The first album is Phew, created by the female Japanese singer of the same moniker with members of Can and produced by Krautrock creator, Conny Plank. 'Nuff said, right? The second is Friction, one of the pioneering bands of Japan's punk/no-wave scene. The band was formed by Reck in 1978 after he returned from New York where he played with Teenage Jesus and The Jerks. They're both amazing and definitely worth purchasing if you come across them. - SKWho doesn't love Iceland, right? There's got to be something amazing in the water because every band that hails from there is so gosh-darn happy! Well now Threadless.com is offering you artistic darlings out there a chance to go. That's right, for it's "Threadless Loves Travel" series, designers are asked to submit tee designs based on travel (whatever that may mean to you).
